Yes, most of you on this list won't be attending, but if you happen to have friends in SOPOT, POLAND, you should suggest that they attend the ARTLOOP FESTIVAL where SLOW DANCE PARTY will be the launch event, if you can fucking believe it.

With a lending library of designated dancers for all you wallflowers, and a dancecard-booklet to set up dances in advance (should you choose to), Toronto Queer Slowdance has all slow songs, all night long! (Except for the occasional intermission when we play the fastest songs we can find!)

It's high school with a happy ending. Come and experience why slow is beautiful, and why love is not ironic.

PS. Fabulous and inspired attire, while desired, is not required. But it would be AWESOME and HAWT. As this is our "schoolyard" edition, school uniforms would be entirely and attirely appropriate, but proceed at your comfort level.

Finally, you do not have to be queer to attend this party, but you must have an open mind, an open heart, and have open arms. Do keep in mind that the majority of folks attending are LGBTTIQQ2SA, so if you are stridently straight, and have very fixed notions of who it's normal to dance with, this will not be the most receptive community for you.

The book I have been working on for the last two years is done and at the printers RIGHT NOW! It is the third installment in my Choose-Your-Own-Adventure style trilogy from the POV of a cat. I am delighted to share this launch with my friend Meags Fitzgerald, whose last graphic novel won the Doug Wright Award and was all about the history, the life and times of PHOTOBOOTHS.

Come see my charming ramshackle powerpoint about the making of the book. I may even do a reading!

Here is an excerpt from the book: "Both the man and the girl have wafers. You notice they spend a lot of time staring into them. The man stares at his for hours in the evening, even as the room darkens around him. You think you know why. The light from it bathes his face — it's basically a portable sunbeam that he carries around with him. You know how you feel when you're in a sunbeam. But you're dependant on its movements and timeframe. The man and the girl have the sunbeams whenever they want. Sometimes you'll nuzzle your head in between the man and his sunbeam, trying to enjoy it too, but it doesn't have the same feeling as an actual sunbeam. You don't know why. It must be something the man can feel but you can't."

MONTREAL STRIP SPELLING BEE - CROSSDRESSER Edition!

WARNING: There may be nudity in this show.

The game is played a lot like strip poker, but it's a spelling bee, and it's played in front of a live audience of hooters, hollerers and hecklers who want to see some smart and sexy skin!

As this is our CROSSDRESSER edition, any contestant who crossdresses, whether half-assed or high-end, will be looked upon more favourably by the judges. We do recognize that gender is fluid, and/or made-up, so we don't have any hard or fast rules about who can drossdress as what. Just FYI.

For the FIRST TIME EVER we are taking contestant sign-ups in advance! But we are limiting early sign-ups to HALF of the allotted ten spellers. Email inconsolablecat@hotmail.com with XDRESSBEE in the subject line if you are interested in signing up early!

May 2nd, 2015 - CARDBOARD PARTY KICKSTARTER LAUNCHES!  (If you are curious about this, the story is that years ago I got a grant to put on the weirdest event, and it was fucking amazing, and it haunts me still. The problem is that it just costs so much to enact that I actually need to create a Kickstarter to fund it. And my feeling is that it's such a beautiful event that I would like to do it annually, but I will settle for doing another one in both Montreal and Toronto. With a lending library of designated dancers for all you wallflowers, and a dancecard-booklet to set up dances in advance (should you choose to), Montreal Slowdance has all slow songs, all night long! (Except for the occasional intermission when we play the fastest songs we can find!) As this is our Naughties & Nice edition, 90% of the songs will be from the decade spanning 2000 (the naughts) to 2010! It's high school with a happy ending. Come and experience why slow is beautiful, and why love is not ironic. This event is MIXED and for EVERYONE: queer, straight, bi, poly, non-gender-binaried, those who identify as Complicated and those who are Late-Onset Awesome. PS. Fabulous and inspired attire, while desired, is not required. But it would be AWESOME and HAWT. Since this is our Naughties edition, you should feel free to dress like early Avril Lavigne if you are so inclined.

The game is played a lot like strip poker, but it's a spelling bee, and it's played in front of a live audience of hooters, hollerers and hecklers who want to see some smart and sexy skin!

(Except for the occasional intermission when we play the fastest songs we can find!) It's high school with a happy ending. Come and experience why slow is beautiful, and why love is not ironic. As this is our 90s edition, 90% of the songs will be from the 1990s. PS. Fabulous and inspired attire, while desired, is not required. But it would be AWESOME and HAWT. Since this is our 90's edition, you should feel free to go wild with plaid flannel and ripped tights if you are so inclined. But don't confine yourselves to that - wear the thing that you don't normally have the opportunity to wear! Wear all the things!

The problem is that it just costs so much to enact that I actually need to create a Kickstarter to fund it. And my feeling is that it's such a beautiful event that I would like to do it annually, but I will settle for doing another one in both Montreal and Toronto. We can only continue to put on these intimate and odd experimental events because you come out and you tell your friends what wacky thing you did over the weekend and they were intrigued enough to come to the next one. OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

CHAT PERDU PRODUCTIONS creates stimulating, quirky, and all-natural events in Montreal & Toronto. We like to put on events that are participatory and lovely. Rather than ironic cool, we are after cat-belly warm. We like it when the people who "attend" are also the people who "perform". We see events as little experiments. We don't know what will happen & we do them to find out. The ultimate goal of everything is for folks to forge new friendships & to make life a little less lonely & manifestly more lovely. The E-Z-Purr is a CD that is exactly what it says it is: over an hour of cats purring. People have asked me if the purring is on a loop, if it's only a 2 minute purr looped for an hour. Adamantly NO. A few years ago I cat-sit my friend Dawn's cat for a week and every day I would go over for a few hours and read and he would come over to my lap and I would stroke him and record him, putting the microphone very close to his voice-box. I actually have hours and hours of raw purr recording and I edited it down to find the most effusive and vibrant purrs to put on the album. People have used it while getting a massage. People have used it to relax them and put them to sleep. People have played it to alternately calm or freak their own cats. Played loudly, it sounds like an idling motorcycle, or like a ten foot tall cat is sleeping in the room with you. All profits from the E-Z-Purr alternate between going to a local cat shelter and a local cat-fostering program.

Our Quirky Events for FEBRUARY 2015!

Dear Lovelies,
I always feel I should say something here but I am always at a loss for words. I wish I could hug you through the internet but technology isn't quite there yet! I just got Netflix and have been re-watching Star Trek The Next Generation episodes and I feel like this is something they neglected - how real people would use hologram and replicator tech. Think of Skype, but with holographic bodies of your loved ones that you could hold and touch and reciprocate with over long distances. Why wasn't that ever a thing? Starfleet needs to get on that.

As this is our Gryffindorable edition, any contestant wearing a crazy costume referencing the World of Hogwarts, whether half-assed or high-end, will be looked upon more favourably by the judges.
